Meet Our Special Highlights of the Month ...

Hope
Age: 11

Please change “life sucks” to “life is great”! Hope is tired of waiting of waiting. Adopted as a puppy, she wasted years of loving on three different homes and being returned each time because she is not good with other animals. She’d be just happy with a little fenced-in yard and some super sweet people. While she might look like an active dog, she is really at heart a mellow one: a short game of tug and war, maybe a little bit of fetching but really what she lives for is people’s attention…and belly rubs. She was in a home with two small kids and was said to be just adorable. So if you only want one dog and are willing to receive love as if you had a whole pack of dogs, then consider Hope.

    Moonstone
Age: 3

Known as the bikini girl because of the white markings on her belly, Moonstone is just too cute. Often perched on one of the kitty condo tops, she will use the opportunity, if provided, to get a free ride on your shoulder or even your back. Who can blame her, she probably thinks she is on top of the world, finally someone to cuddle up with and she even gives kisses. She sometimes seems to keep to herself but that’s just all an appearance because she is a very affectionate cat. All she really wants, like so many of them, is just to be noticed and then hopefully adopted.

Myra
Age: 11

It is always sad, regardless of the reason, when an old dog gets returned. Moving is what brought Myra back and she was quite confused at first. She used to live with three kids and a cat and often had a dog visiting her and her family. She is trained, knows sit, speak, paw, fetch, down and would even be more than happy to expand her repertoire. Her prior family reported that she was afraid of the newspaper and didn’t always like her neck touched – maybe something happened in her life prior to that family. She is a sweetheart, always well-behaved on leash and always eager for long walks. Don’t let her wait too long.

    Oopsie Daisy
Age: 7

Me, me, me! Oopsy Daisy wants constant attention and affection, from people, from cats, from anybody and everybody. She doesn’t take no for an answer, you don’t want to pet her, no problem, she’ll try to jump in your lap or do figures eight between your legs. If there is no one in the room, she rubs against every cat that lets her do so, with a special affinity for the big boy, Veggie. He gets rubs under his chin, on the sides of his body, on top of his head, just name it. She loves to be carried around and is like people that are always happy and singing or whistling happy melodies.

Oopsie Daisy is FIV positive and asymptomatic. She definitely needs a home with another cat (FIV positive) or with one of her feline friends from Save-A-Pet.

Tiny Tommy
Age: 3

What a sight! A huge head with lynx like ears (notice the little fur sticking up on top of them) on a body that is a little bit on the small side. He looks Tiny but when you pick him up, you quickly find out he is heavy. His body is just one solid mass – no need to take a fat index on this guy. Tiny Tom came from another shelter that is not set up for FIV cats. He has adjusted without problems and happily shares his living quarters with the other FIV guys and gal. Just petting him immediately relaxes you and before you know it, you might be purring away in concerto with him. There is absolutely no way someone wouldn’t be totally enthralled by scratching him behind his ears and both sides of his faces, you just have to feel his muscles. He even comes with petting directions… begin at the top of his head where the four dark stripes start and then just follow them down as they merge into each other…all the way to his tail!

Tiny Tommy is FIV positive, he needs a home as a single cat or with another FIV positive cat. So why not consider one of his friends as he gets along well with them. And don't forget to ask about him by name.

    Xavier
Age: 6

Cautious at first, Xavier is a little guy that needs time to bond with new people. Once he is comfortable with you, he is a wonderful dog that loves to be petted and even rolls on his back for a belly rub. He is so cute when he completely relaxes, he closes his eyes and his lower jaw and bottom teeth stick out. He loves to play with soft toys and will fetch the toy for you then run around with it, the next thing you know, he jumps right into your lap for some smooching time. He becomes very protective of the person he is with and can get overstimulated if more than one person is touching him. It would therefore be best if he went to a home that had few visitors. There is a volunteer that has worked a lot with him and would love to tell you even more about this little guy – just remember he needs a very special quiet home.
